April 10, Festival Showcase

America's voice always has been raised in song, in a glorious interaction of the musical traditions of many peoples. We sang our way through the darkest moments of the Revolution and through exhilarating victory, through the Civil War and two World Wars, through the Great Depression and times of prosperity. We'll sing our way through today's troubles. Reflecting the creativity and energy that have made our country great, American composers have brought us the music the whole world sings, from Broadway to opera, folk song to oratorio.

To celebrate the genius and rich diversity of America's sung music, from mid-February to early June 2010, the Washington area's leading performing arts and presenting organizations will present an unprecedented festival of American music for the Voice. The Festival will offer the public a dazzling array of performances and educational opportunities, across a broad range of musical genres, with something to appeal to every kind of musical interest.

Join us in the spring of 2010 in the Nation's capital and enjoy the music of America.
